 Sincere thanks to everyone who sent in gift cards, presents and donations for our bus driver,Tina Kadow, the SOS Childrens Village and for the 3 Homer Glen families the PTO adopted this past holiday season.  The generosity of our Young families was admirable.

Thank you to the 200+ people who joined Mr. Szopinski, Mrs. Spahn and the PTO for a Heartfelt Holiday Event!

We raised nearly $900 for Young School, created more than 75 holiday cards for residents of Victorian Village, and kicked off a collection effort that raised over $1,000 in gifts and food for Homer families in need.

The Book Fair Family Night was so much FUN!!

Thank you to all the students, parents and grandparents who came out on a rainy night to enjoy  a fun family event.  Special thanks to all the novices who displayed their newly aquired Hawaiian dance moves on the gym floor -- Dads, you brought the house down!!  Also many thanks to our teachers and book fair volunteers who helped make the event the best it could be!

William Young School celebrates the end of the school year with Field Days!  It is 2 days of fun outdoor activities created by Mrs. Bruin and Mr. Jonaitis.  The PTO coordinates over 100 volunteers over the 2 day event.  Pleaes consider volunteering it may be the most fun you have all year! 

New school boundaries were approved at the School Board Meeting.

Where does the money go?

Thank you very much for supporting the PTO last year.  Together we raised nearly $30,000 in cash and $13,000 in Scholastic Book dollars.  Of the money raised: $7800 was allocated to teachers for classroom supplies; $7500 to leveled books for literacy programs; $3,000 for assemblies; $700 each for grade level teams, including music, reading, gym, library, EC-4th grade; and, $1,000 to the library for high interest books not available through Scholastic.  The PTO also provided an allowance to the 1st Grade Reading Day, supplied ISAT Care Packages and Pizza Reward, Incubators for the 4th Grade Embryo Unit and Purchased over $800 in gym equipment for Field Days.  Thanks to your generous support, we are making a difference in the lives of Young students, staff and teachers.
